Databases at FI

We provide 3 types of relational databases to FI users - PostgreSQL, MariaDB (formerly MySQL) and Oracle. All databases run on the db.fi.muni.cz machine and are only accessible from the FI network. You can therefore log in to them from FI machines (e.g. Aisa) or connect to a VPN.

Users can create accounts in the databases using the application in the Faculty Administration. There you can also find further instructions on how to connect to the databases.

On request, we can create a dedicated database/schema (in PostgreSQL or MariaDB) with a non-personal access account for official projects.

Databases are backed up once a day, and we keep backups for approximately one month.
