Faculty web proxy

In the faculty network we run a cache proxy web server that can be used for web access to resources accessible only from the FI network or for accessing the Internet for devices in FI networks with private addresses.

The faculty proxy services are available only within the MU network. For browsers / tools, the configuration procedure may vary. Typically, however, you only need to set the proxy address cache.fi.muni.cz and TCP port 3128 .

If you have a device on a private network, it can help you configure the use of an HTTP proxy globally in the file /etc/environment by adding these lines:

    http_proxy=http://cache.fi.muni.cz:3128/
    https_proxy=http://cache.fi.muni.cz:3128/

This setting applies to programs that respect the specified environment variables.
