Visiting Students

This page is for visiting students who are applying for exchange/short-term/non-degree study at the Faculty of Informatics Masaryk University (FI MU). Every year about a thousand of exchange students come to study at Masaryk University and they are very satisfied with their study experience in Brno. Brno is the fourth best student city in the world. Do not hesitate to see it!

Before you will choose courses that you want to study see the scheme/programme via which you can study at FI MU.

Erasmus+ study (Europe)

Within the ERASMUS+ programme students from a selected university can spend 1 – 2 semesters at the FI MU. The grant is for students who have completed at least one year of their studies and is paid by student home university. The foreign university must have an bilateral agreement with FI MU, check that at international office of your home university. If you were selected by your home university for Erasmus studies, please look at the webpage of our Office for International Cooperation for more information about the application process.

Erasmus+ outside Europe

This initiative enables non-European students to undertake study, research stays and internships at selected European universities. Students from Western Balkans, South and East Mediterranean countries, Africa, Asia, North America or Latin America can spend either one or two semesters at Masaryk University. Freemover

If your university does not have a formal exchange agreement with FI MU, you may apply to non-degree study at FI MU for 1 – 2 semesters. Students applying under this category must have the necessary background and prerequisites for the courses they wish to follow. It is recommended to be at least in your third year of bachelor studies. All students must fulfil the English/Czech language requirements according to the tuition language.

Traineeships

If you are looking for working experience you can work on some research project at our laboratories. When you find a lab that you are interested in write to the head of chosen lab and ask whether they can admit you for internship. If you agreed on cooperation, contact Office for International Affairs, which helps you to apply and arrange your stay.

The practical traineeships are financed from the side of student (Erasmus+ programme, Freemover, other financial sources) or in some cases the faculty or laboratory has funds to support students internship, ask about that possibility when negotiate your stay.

  • Masaryk University concludes bilateral agreements with partner universities all over the world which offer opportunity of student mobility with different way of covering study and living expenses.
  • ISEP coordinates student exchanges between the United States and 38 other countries.
  • DAAD offers a very wide range of scholarships and grants for German students, interns and student trainees, (post)graduates, young academics and researchers wishing to obtain further academic and personal qualifications abroad.
  • AKTION is a programme of bilateral cooperation in education and science in all disciplines for students. Applicants intending to come to Masaryk University must be citizens of Austria.
  • Visegrad Fund offers a large number of scholarships open to citizens of V4 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) and a number of selected non-V4 countries.
  • Fulbright Commission offers the range of different possibilities for study and research in the Czech Republic for US citizens.
  • CEEPUS was designed to increase student mobility in the Central European region.
  • Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship offers grants for undergraduate students of limited financial means who are US citizens to pursue academic studies abroad.
